VETERANS HONORED; Moving palisade photos and videos. Vietnam.




The Cohoctah Township gazabo fought back tears as he talked about Mike Niezgoda, a kid he grew up with in Dearborn during the 1960s. They were away friends, and both were drafted during the Vietnam conflict. Niezgoda was drafted first, and Mitchell soon followed.



Niezgoda was wounded poorly and died Sept. 24, 1968, and the next month Mitchell was deployed to Vietnam. Niezgoda was 20 when he died. Although Mitchell was internal on leave, he didn't go to his friend's funeral. He couldn't.






He didn't have the grit to reputation losing his friend. In fact, Mitchell stayed away from Vietnam memorials for 40 years. On Thursday, he visited the Moving Wall for the beginning time. He has not been to the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. "I came here by myself," Mitchell said. He wasn't unsurpassed on Thursday.



Hundreds of residents and veterans turned out for the debut niceties of the Moving Wall. The formality featured flyovers by an American Huey 369 helicopter, two Chinook helicopters and a bantam scrutiny uninterrupted and laying of wreaths by forebears members of those killed in Vietnam. () Representatives from numerous Livingston County old hand organizations also helped section wreaths. State Sen. Valde Garcia, R-Marion Township, thanked the service personnel who served in Vietnam, a contention he said "divided the country.



" He said those were proper commonality who served, and they needed to be remembered. The Moving Wall Vietnam remembrance opened Thursday with panegyric to Sept. 11, 2001, blue ribbon responders.
